Oracle Internet Directory/Oracle Virtual Directory: ODSM 404 error

Recently we installed OID along with the ODSM utility (used to administer OID and OVD). When we attempted to access ODSM at http://hostname.domain:7005/odsm, we found that we could use it fine in Internet Explorer, but received a 404 error in Firefox and Chrome.

Here’s a quick tip that will probably save you hours (or days in some cases) of frustration with Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM)

Problem

Recently we installed OID along with the ODSM utility (used to administer OID and OVD).  When we attempted to access ODSM at http://hostname.domain:7005/odsm, we found that we could use it fine in Internet Explorer, but received a 404 error in Firefox and Chrome.

Solution

Remove the value from the Listen Address field for the managed server where ODSM was running (for example, the default server name is wls_ods1). If you’re having this issue, login to the Weblogic Admin Server Console for the domain where ODSM is deployed, find the managed server and clear the Listen Address value. Restart the managed server and you should be good.
