Problem

We were working on a proof of concept and came across a scenario where Active Directory create user scenario was failing from IIQ 8.0+ with the following warning error:

“Errors returned from IQService. An error occurred while setting a password for the account. The exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. One or more input parameters are invalid, Error occurred while setting a password for the account. An exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. One or more input parameters are invalid”

Solution

First, we thought that it is related to some incorrect parameter being passed but after evaluating all the options – we zeroed down the problem that active directory should be running on SSL.

If you need details on how to make an active directory to run on SSL please read our blog, “Active Directory Installation with Self-Signed SSL/TLS Certificate.”
