Challenge

IAM processes relied on tribal knowledge and highly manual processes.  New business initiatives and mergers and acquisitions left a piecemeal solution serving individual needs rather than an overall design.  This led to a patchwork solution of technology and processes that was labor-intensive and inefficient.

Solution

IDMWORKS engaged and performed a full IAM assessment and built a strategic roadmap for short and long-term IAM strategy.  The journey started with the implementation of a centralized and modern IGA solution to migrate away from tribal knowledge and manual processes and to enable automated user lifecycle provisioning, attestations, access requests, and enterprise RBAC. IDMWORKS continued to execute the multi-year roadmap, adding more functionality.  When the customer merged with another health system, IDMWORKS helped align the merger strategy with the IAM strategy; changing authoritative sources, merging EMR systems, and a phased migration to consolidate to a single IGA system and set of processes.

Results

Execution of the multi-year roadmap has addressed the pursuit of the IT Services vision while operating within the constraints and budget of the program.  The IAM program now runs in an agile format, with year-over-year strategic planning, to ensure growth in the program while staying aligned to the changing needs of the business.
