Case Study - Global medical device manufacturer

Challenge

A global medical device manufacturer had made a significant investment in a new platform that would allow them to rapidly scale their partner and customer facing ecosystem selling insulin delivery systems to patients. Their existing non-identity-centric development firm responsible for building a .Net application had missed multiple releases, stalling their growth and putting their business line in jeopardy.  

Solution

IDMWORKS performed an immediate full code review and uncovered numerous issues. The existing code wasn’t written to scale, so IDMWORKS first triaged the issues then systematically embarked on a complete code remediation effort. After completing the code remediation and optimizing their patient-facing environment, IDMWORKS assumed operational responsibility through a comprehensive and tailored Managed Services offering for both the hosting environment and the consumer IAM solution (Okta).  IDMWORKS continued to enhance their .Net application with multiple enhancements via initiatives Insulet was leading as well as securing a strong platform solution for global rollout and expansion.  IDMWORKS continues to be engaged for guidance and advice on the direction forward and architecture of the solution.

Results

IDMWORKS solved the failing CIAM solution issues and deployed a solution that addresses both the partner ecosystem needs around rapid scaling of sales/delivery partners as well as the end consumer’s (patient) need to manage the user identities of patients using the devices.   The customer has aggressively been expanding into multiple countries this year with further expansion plans into 2025.
