Challenge
Over several years, the customer has deployed a large CyberArk environment with numerous vaults and components. The customer had waited several years before upgrading the environment and prioritized expanding the platform to protect privileged accounts. This led to the need for a larger upgrade effort spanning multiple CyberArk versions. The age of the software also required OS and infrastructure upgrades and new hardware for the environment.
Solution
IDMWORKS worked with the customer to define a detailed migration plan, outlining the steps and dependencies for each environment. The upgrades required the installation and configuration of new hardware and migration of data to the new hardware. IDMWORKS created VMs to cover data replication and constant backup. Due to the multiple environments and the complexity of each environment, IDMWORKS separated the implementation into multiple phases with the initial build-out of a new environment, Hardware Security Model connection and rekey, and DR replication to ensure data validity.
Results
IDMWORKS was able to upgrade and migrate the CyberArk system to new hardware and the latest build. The extensive and detailed plan ensured that the migrations were continuous and resulted in extremely limited downtime across multiple environments. This was vital given the extensive and pervasive use of CyberArk to support the system.
