Challenge

The customer needed to enhance the digital experience for its employees and agents while maintaining high security standards. Since insurance products are sold through independent agents, it is crucial to provide secure access without adding friction, as agents have a choice in where to place their business. The customer faced the challenge of supporting a hybrid IT environment with both on-premises and cloud infrastructure. The customer wanted to implement MFA smoothly to secure access for both employees and agents, ensuring it did not negatively impact usability.

Solution

After a workshop and recommendation from IDMWORKS, the customer chose to implement SSO and MFA using Ping Identity solutions to balance security and user experience. The implementation began with workforce users and was extended to external agents, leveraging PingFederate to ensure secure access across devices. PingOne Protect was used to enhance security for agents, enabling risk-based prompts for MFA to avoid unnecessary verifications.

Results

IDMWORKS deployed MFA for over 7,000 agents and employees within just four months, several months ahead of the initial timeline. The initial plan for a phased MFA rollout was accelerated due to early success, allowing IDMWORKS to complete the deployment ahead of schedule. The deployment was seamless, leading to very few support calls—a testament to the IDMWORKS deployment team and the user-friendly nature of the solution. By implementing MFA, the customer reduced security risks while maintaining a frictionless experience for agents, as evidenced by positive agent feedback who compare this MFA experience to other solutions.
